Traumatic Brain Injury
Mental health issues following traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a common occurrence. There are over 150,000 cases of TBI in Canada alone every year (and this does not even include concussions – or mild traumatic brain injury, military injuries, or unreported cases). As a result of the sheer volume and frequency of these injuries, TBI has been named the ‘silent epidemic‘. People who experience TBI are susceptible to mental health issues such as personality changes, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression. At Peace of Mind, we understand what it is like to deal with a brain injury. Our lead mental health therapist, Melissa Burton suffered a sports-related head injury and has dedicated her life to helping others cope with the effects of this type of injury.
Together, we can address the issues you are dealing with. Together, we can come to better understand and identify coping strategies to help manage the day-to-day challenges associated with your brain injury. We truly understand what you are going through and we are here to help you.
